Leo 'The Messiah' Messi


Lionel Andrés "Leo" Messi is an Argentine footballer who currently plays for FC Barcelona and the Argentina national team as a forward or winger. He also holds Spanish citizenship, which makes him eligible as a EU player.  Messi received Ballon d'Or and FIFA World Player 2009 and 2010. His playing style and ability have drawn comparisons to Diego Maradona, who himself declared Messi his "successor".
 24 June 1987, Messi was born at at the Hospital Italiano Garibaldi in Rosario, Santa Fe, to parents Jorge Horacio Messi, a factory worker, and Celia María Cuccittini, a part-time cleaner.
1992, Messi started playing football for Grandoli, a local club coached by his father Jorge.
1995, Messi switched to Newell's Old Boys who were based in his home city Rosario.
1998, Messi was diagnosed with a growth hormone deficiency.
2000, His family moved to Europe and he started in the club's youth teams as Barcelona offered treatment for his growth hormone deficiency.
He soon found himself starting for the Barcelona B team, averaging more than a goal per game, by scoring 37 goals in 30 matches.
16 Nov 2003, at 16 years and 145 days, in a friendly match against Porto, Messi made his official debut for the first-team.
June 2004, Messi debuted for Argentina, playing in an under-20 friendly match against Paraguay.

Messi launched himself at the ball and connected with his hand to guide the ball past the goalkeeper Carlos Kameni. Despite protests by Espanyol players and replays showing it was clear handball, the goal stood.
2007,  Messi established the Leo Messi Foundation, a charity supporting access to education and health care for vulnerable children.
23 Aug 2008, Messi and Argentina got Olympic Gold Medal at 2008 Olympic games in China.
28 Mar 2009, Messi wore the number 10 jersey for the first time with Argentina in a World Cup Qualifier against Venezuela.  This match was the first official match for Diego Maradona as the Argentina manager. Argentina won the match 4–0 with Messi opening the scoring.

The 2011 UEFA Champions League Final will be the final match of the 2010–11 UEFA Champions League the 56th season of the UEFA Champions League football tournament, and the 19th in the Champions League era. The match will be played on 28 May 2011 at Wembley Stadium in London, England.

Wembley Stadium is a football stadium located in Wembley Park, in the Borough of Brent, London, England. It opened in 2007 and was built on the site of the previous 1923 Wembley Stadium. The earlier Wembley stadium, originally called the Empire Stadium, was often referred to as "The Twin Towers" and was one of the world's most famous football stadiums until its demolition in 2003.

The 90,000-capacity venue is the second largest stadium in Europe, and serves as England's national stadium. It is the home venue of the England national football team, and hosts the latter stages of the top level domestic club cup competition, the FA Cup. It held UEFA five-star stadium status which was superseded by a new system of classification. It is owned by English football's governing body, The Football Association (The FA), through their subsidiary Wembley National Stadium Ltd (WNSL).

Wembley was designed by architects Foster + Partners and Populous (known as HOK Sport at the time of the design phase and construction) and with engineers Mott MacDonald, built by Australian company Brookfield Multiplex and funded by Sport England, WNSL (Wembley National Stadium Limited), the Football Association, the Department for Culture Media and Sport and the London Development Agency. It is one of the most expensive stadiums ever built at a cost of £798 million (After New Meadowlands Stadium) and has the largest roof-covered seating capacity in the world.
